What Is Halal?
The word Halal is an Arabic word that means “permissible" .
In the Islamic faith, all food is Halal or permissible,
excluding a few foods that God has ordered believers not to eat.
In terms of eating anything be it plants or animals, you are then dealing with a balance of life.
In Islam, life is sacred and one of the greatest gifts and blessings of God. Every moment of life has great value and is irreversible. Therefore, it must be appreciated and protected.
Meat is a food that God has set provisional guidance that needs to be followed for it to be Halal or permissible to eat.
These conditions are the rights of the animal. Steps in the husbandry for the animal need to be taken throughout its entire life.
The animal must be given its best life from the day it is born until the day it is slaughtered.
HALAL LIFE
Consideration of the animals rights show that not only their lives must be protected, but also the quality of their lives must be observed.
For example, animals must not be bothered by forcing them to carry heavy goods or to move faster than they tolerate. Neither animals can be cursed or sworn at.
Each day of an animal’s life should be a good day, even the very last day of its life should be a good day. The animal should be treated with respect and humanely.
They are to be fed properly from their natural dietary needs. They are to be allowed to live a life outside on pastures and be able to move about freely.
HALAL SLAUGHTER- End of Life Care
Muslims believe that in order to have permission to take the life of the animals, there must be a need or purpose and permission needs to be taken from The Giver of that life.
The Halal slaughter starts with a very sharp blade knife that has been sharpened away from the sight of the animal. There should not be any site of blood from a previous slaughter and no other animal should be present to witness the slaughtering.
The animal should be given a drink of water while gently speaking to it and handling it gently. Then the animal is maneuvered to the ground, laying it on its left side, and preferably facing the direction of Mecca. The legs of the animal should be free to move and help pump the blood from the body after it has been cut.
The name of Allah must be spoken upon the animal, before the slaughtering. Then in a swift and scientifically proven, nearly pain-free one or two slices of the jugular vein in the neck, the animal is slaughtered.

directed by our son Kathem at age 8.
Kathem now holds the knife and is swift with the cut during our slaughtering.
May Allah continue to bless him as he grows in his passion to lead by example and raise the standard by serving others whom wish not to be a part of this wicked industrial meat industry. |
